Story: Bloody Nose

"Ladies and gentlemen," the announcer’s deep voice resonated against the walls of the auditorium in which the Ridge Mount High School Three Year Annual Talent Show was being held.

"It is our pleasure to welcome a new comer to the school but not to the stage. She is sixteen, and will be singing an original song."

Everybody cheered.

She watched from the wings, waiting for the announcer to call her name and let her get on with her singing.

She sniffed then rubbed her nose only to feel her index finger sticky with blood.

"Shit," she hissed quietly, then she ran to the bathroom in the back.

She tried to clean her nose the best she could but more still came out.

She walked out of the room to tell the stage manager to tell the announcer to tell the judges.

She could hear the announcer go on and on about her. She rolled her eyes then proceeded to the stage manager. She tapped him on the shoulder. He turned looking down at her (he was a good foot taller). She glanced to his eyes, fluorescent even though it was completely dark.

"Um..." she finally spoke. " I have a bloody nose. Please tell the announcer so he can-" she noticed how close they were to each other. "-Warn the judges-"

He broke her off by speaking into the headset, "The girl that is about to go on is...well she needs a little time...bloody nose." He took the head set off and placed them on the stand behind him. "Happy?"

"Ecstatic." She answered then place a tissue piece in -yes in- her nose.

He tried to stifle a laugh at her current state.

"I have to take care of it somehow," she glared as the darkness supposing this was where he was. She felt pressure in her shoulders, then a hand pulled the blood stained tissue out of her nose. "What the-"

He grabbed he neck and pulled her towards him. He took hold of her waist with his free hand then brushed his lips to hers.

She froze for a minute then kissed him back, when they broke apart he put his forehead on hers.

"Sorry ladies and gentlemen...you will have to wait a bit before hearing this special girl...she has a bloody nose..." the audience laughed as he continued to talk about the next contestant.

Not that Bloody Nose and her stage manager cared...they were a little busy at the moment.
